San Bernardino launches new public records platform

San Bernardino launches new public records platform

The San Bernardino City Clerk’s Office has partnered with Next Request, a public records request platform that streamlines the process of obtaining public records.

The San Bernardino City Clerk’s Office receives an average of 1,500 public records requests annually for building permits, animal services records, copies of email communications, operations and maintenance records, and much more.

Under the old GoGov system, city staff had to utilize Excel spreadsheets, and emails to track, route, and respond to requests. Next Request will now streamline the submittal, routing, and response process for both requestors and staff. Additionally, the new process will increase transparency and the public’s access to City records while reducing staff time spent on requests.

Some of the features the new platform offers are:

  • Easy-to-use interface for submitting and tracking requests.
  • Automated notifications to keep you informed on the status of your request.
  • Searchable database for previously released records and common requests.

The City went live with the new platform on June 8th.
