County takes next step in expansion of housing complex in San Bernardino

Earlier this month, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors gave the go-ahead to secure contractors to begin building the Pacific Village Platinum Campus (PC) Project.

The $16.2 million PC Project will expand the existing Pacific Village housing complex in San Bernardino into a full-service continuum of care campus to provide housing options to the county’s homeless population.

The PC Project will include:

  • A (32) bed Recuperative Care facility (tenant improvement project) for medical and behavioral health.
  • New construction of (30) pre-fabricated permanent housing units for adults who are recipients or applicants of Supplemental Security Income/State Supplementary Payment (SSI/SSP) and/or Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI) benefits.
  • Park-like landscaping and walking paths incorporated throughout the campus, along with multiple outdoor gathering areas.
  • On-site laundry facilities, fenced pet park, community garden and large community center.

The Board of Supervisors also gave the green light for the $14 million County Department of Behavioral Health Pacific Village Substance Use Disorder Program (SUD) Project to move forward.

The SUD Project will create a 10,900-square-foot residential treatment facility that will provide services to individuals with severe mental health illness and/or substance use disorders. Plans call for a 24-hour residential facility with 16 beds for those needing mental health and/or substance use disorder services and treatment. Services will include withdrawal management and residential treatment.

San Bernardino County will use American Rescue Plan Act funds for construction of the project.
