On Thursday, January 16, San Bernardino Homelessness Division staff, Public Works crews, Police officers, Salvation Army Outreach staff along with the City trash hauler, Burrtec began an encampment cleanup at Meadowbrook Park.
According to the city, the cleanup of the 14-acre park is expected to last three days, following which, Meadowbrook Park will be closed for an additional week for Public Works staff to perform a hazard assessment and conduct irrigation repairs among other projects.
Outreach to the approximately 85 tents and 115 unhoused individuals began on Monday with approximately 35 individuals accepting services.
As part of the cleanup, crews worked closely with the campers to identify items that could be disposed, items that they would take with them, and items that the City would temporarily store for up to 90 days.
This makes the fourth park cleanup over the past several months. The city has announced that additional encampment cleanups will continue in the near future.
