Wildwood Park to close next week for repairs

The City of San Bernardino has announced that Wildwood Park will temporarily close from Monday, July 17 through Friday, July 21 in order for the park to undergo beautification, repairs, and upgrades.

Work will be performed by City of San Bernardino Public Works crews along with City contractors in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department.

The project is the latest in a series of focused park projects undertaken in recent months by the City. Most recently, Perris Hill Park, Meadowbrook Park, and Seccombe Lake Park underwent similar closures. Work performed included landscape work, irrigation repairs, painting, repairs to lighting, fencing, and equipment, replacement of trash cans, weed abatement, removal of dead and diseased trees, and spraying for mosquitos. 72 specific projects were completed at Perris Hill Park.

“Because of the type of work we are doing, it is safer to close the park for a short time,” said Ernesto Salinas, San Bernardino Public Works Deputy Director of Operations.

Wildwood Park encompasses over twenty-four acres, and includes four baseball/softball fields, a playground, dog park, exercise area, and picnic area. It is among the parks in San Bernardino that are now patrolled by security to ensure that parks hours are observed. Wildwood Park is located at 436 West 40th Street.

The City plans to close Encanto Park from July 24 through July 28 to perform similar work.
