San Bernardino to get new fire station on Del Rosa

After nearly two decades, San Bernardino will receive a new fire station, thanks to the County of San Bernardino.

Earlier this month, the County Board of Supervisors approved funding for a new Fire Station 226 to be built at 1920 Del Rosa Avenue.

The current Fire Station 226 was constructed in the 1950s and has been utilized to provide emergency services since its construction. The current facility is limited in its ability to provide modern fire service operations and no longer meets current building codes and safety standards.

The Project will demolish the existing 4,300-square-foot fire station and construct a new 10,267-square-foot facility. The project is projected to cost $10 million and be completed in one year Oakview Constructors, Inc. was selected to complete the build. The new, larger, modern station will enable the San Bernardino County Fire Department to provide expanded emergency services and maintain public safety to the areas it serves.

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony in mid-September.
