San Bernardino seeks applicants for HUD grants

The City of San Bernardino is seeking applications for the 2024-2025 Program Year for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and HOME Investments Partnerships funds.

Thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City has approximately $2.9 million available through its Community Development Block Grant, $1.45 million in HOME Investment Partnership Funds, and $270,000 in Emergency Solutions Grant funds.

Applications for the Community Development Block Grant funding must meet one of the following national objectives like: 1) principally benefit low- and moderate-income persons, 2) eliminate slums and blight, and 3) meet an urgent need.

The Emergency Solutions Grant program aims to assist individuals and families quickly regain stability in permanent housing following crises or homelessness. Eligible activities for funds include emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, rapid re-housing assistance, and data collection through the Homeless Management Information System.

The HOME Investment Partnership or Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Program (OORP) is a forgivable loan program designed to assist low-income, eligible residents in improving, rehabilitating, and extending the conditions of their homes to meet the City’s health and safety code requirements.  The City is seeking qualified Community Housing Development Organizations, For-Profit and Non-Profit Developers, as well as construction entities to assist in the OORP program.

Applications for each of the programs is available on the City’s website. Applications received after the 3:00 P.M. deadline on January 5, 2024, will not be accepted.
