City accepting applications for Youth Civic Engagement Council

City accepting applications for Youth Civic Engagement Council

The San Bernardino Youth Civic Engagement Council (“Youth Council”) is now accepting applications for the 2023-24 session. Motivated high school juniors and seniors who are eager to learn more about the city they live in and the local government that runs it are encouraged to apply.

The program is a partnership between the City of San Bernardino (“City”) and San Bernardino City Unified School District and will meet once a month from August 2023 to May 2024.

Youth Council members participate in a variety of job shadowing activities such as workplace tours, training sessions, and question-and-answer panel discussions and interviews with City staff and elected officials. Through these activities, members will learn about City operations from various department employees, directors, and elected officials. Members will also engage in policy discussions and provide feedback from the perspective of a youth living in the City of San Bernardino.

Additional information and the application can be found at https://www.sbcity.org/youthcouncil.
