Work begins on Little Third Street Improvement Project

A ground breaking ceremony was held this week, kicking off the start of construction on a $4 million improvement project on Little Third Street and Little Tippecanoe Avenue.

San Bernardino Councilmember Mario Flores along with Congressman Pete Aguilar and Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. broke ground at the ceremonial event.

The project covers half a mile and is located in an unincorporated pocket in San Bernardino. Work will include full pavement reconstruction, street widening, new sidewalks, and ADA curb ramps, all designed to make the corridor safer and more accessible. Decorative fencing between the sidewalk and the City Creek Channel will enhance the aesthetics and ensure the safety of local students walking to and from school.

“This community deserves to have pride in where they live and feel safe in their own neighborhood,” said San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “The children here deserve safe sidewalks and accessible routes to school. We’re proud to be delivering these improvements to the Little 3rd community; a project that represents more than just roads and sidewalks, but a true investment in our residents.”

Funding for the project comes from $2.5 million in federal funding and $1.5 million in Measure I Funds.
