New Cross Street Bridge Opens

The re-built Cross Street Bridge, located off Conejo Drive near Pacific Street, opened to traffic December 18.

In 2023, the City deemed the Cross Street Bridge compromised and in need of emergency closure. The closure cut off vehicle access to a small neighborhood comprising of two apartment complexes and several single-family homes.

Working with the San Bernardino City Unified School District, the City was able to build a temporary road through Fairfax Elementary School and restore access to the neighborhood within 24 hours of the bridge’s closure.

With the new bridge now complete and open, crews will restore the playground of Fairfax Elementary.
