Improvements at Waterman Avenue and 210 Freeway Completed

The City of San Bernardino announced last week that the expansion of the eastbound onramp and left turn lanes at Waterman Avenue overcrossing of the 210 Freeway have been completed.

The improvements are expected to help relieve congestion along a key mobility corridor in San Bernardino. In addition to serving local drivers, Waterman Avenue serves as an important access point to communities in the San Bernardino Mountains, including Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake.

Increased traffic volumes at the 210 Freeway crossing had resulted in heavy congestion and backups for motorists, especially during peak hours.

The project, which began earlier this year, added a second left turn lane in each direction of Waterman Avenue and expanded the eastbound on-ramp to the 210 freeway from one to two lanes.

The public is reminded to travel with caution. While the new lanes are open, crews will continue to be on site to complete some additional fence work and adjust the traffic signals.

The $9.8 million project was funded by SBCTA using Measure I funds and the City of San Bernardino.
