Beyond Pathways program receives Golden Bell award

The Beyond Pathways program that helps special education students learn valuable life and work skills at San Bernardino City Unified School District will receive the Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association.

The Beyond Pathways Program provides job-skills training to students with moderate to severe disabilities. Beyond Pathways is managed and implemented by the Special Education Department, and is available at San Andreas High School, the Community Integrated Program (CIP)/Bridge to WORC Program at Anderson School, and the WORC Program at Middle College High School/San Bernardino Valley College and Cal State San Bernardino.

According to Dr. Howana Lundy,  SELPA Director City of San Bernardino Unified School District, “The student’s most important takeaway is independence.  This program allows them to have a buffer between high-school and adulthood that otherwise they would not have.  We are preparing these kids for a lifetime of gainful employment hat will lead to them being able to live more fulfilling lives.”

The Golden Bell Award will be presented on December 2 at the California School Board’s annual conference in San Diego.
