Last week, the first passengers from Phoenix arrived at San Bernardino International Airport to lots of fanfare. Airport staff welcomed the plane to the terminal with a traditional water cannon salute.
Local dignitaries from the San Bernardino International Airport Authority, along with representatives from the Inland Valley Development Agency, and Breeze Airways, joined in the party to welcome the passengers and celebrate the new service.
“We congratulate Breeze Airways on this new route as we continue to serve the Inland Empire’s travel needs through the convenience and affordability of the San Bernardino International Airport,” said Michael Burrows, Chief Executive Officer.
Breeze Airways began operating nonstop service to San Francisco International Airport from SBD in August 2022, with BreezeThru service continuing to Provo, Utah.
In February 2023, Breeze announced seasonal service from San Bernardino to Las Vegas, Nevada, with a BreezeThru flight to Hartford.
The new roundtrip flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor will operate each Thursday and Sunday on 137-seat A220 aircraft, with the option of one-stop, same-plane BreezeThru™ service continuing to Hartford Connecticut.
SBD was named the country’s most affordable airport by the U.S. Department of Transportation in July 2023, based on the average airfare paid by travelers the previous year.
