The Sundowners Restaurant in San Bernardino has been a local stop for decades. Located just off of E Street across from the Inland Center Mall North of Orange Show Road, Sundowners has maintained its traditional service in San Bernardino even as the area around it has struggled.
This is an order from the menu on the wall, grab and go restaurant with prices that are extremely favorable to the consumer. Sundowners cooks your food on the spot and even takes the time to remind its customers “that we do not serve fast food.” The care they take preparing the food is obvious because it tastes great and the portions are very generous.
We stopped in for lunch and had the Hamburgers with a side of onion rings. The burger was cooked perfectly and charbroiled. The onion rings are crunchy and made fresh as well. It was a busy day but they managed to get our food out in a short time.
Sundowners’ menu has a broad range of inexpensively priced dinners from steak to seafood to spaghetti and meatballs with dozens of side offerings. If you want a great selection of very nice meals at a very fair price, you can’t go wrong here.
Open from 10:30 to 6 or 7 daily, Sundowners used to be known for its cash-only service. Since Covid, they now take credit card payment as well, but still offer their unique cash discount program. If you are looking for a local inexpensive place to take the family, Sundowners is definitely a dining experience worth a visit!
