County Fire explores drone technology for fire prevention

San Bernardino County Fire recently welcomed a demonstration by Seneca, a California-based company specializing in aerial fire suppression innovation. The demonstration featured the Argo-1, a semi-autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) designed to assist firefighters and transform initial response tactics to vegetation fires.

Seneca’s autonomous fire suppression system uses AI to navigate and knock down fires and cut response times to under ten minutes. A single pilot can control multiple suppression craft carrying hundreds of pounds of Class A foam. Systems are hand-liftable and built to be stationed in high risk locations, transported with a utility vehicle, and deployed from anywhere.

“Rapid initial attack is the best chance we have to save money, property, and lives,” said Dan Munsey, Fire Chief of San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.

San Bernardino County Fire says its committed to embracing innovation that enhances firefighter safety, boosts operational efficiency and strengthens community protection. To learn more about this emerging technology, visit Seneca.com.
