Stater Bros. Markets’ Customers and Teammates Contribute over $1 million to Pediatric Cancer Treatment

Stater Bros. Markets and Stater Bros. Charities continued their long-standing tradition of caring for communities by partnering with the City of Hope to raise critical funds for pediatric cancer treatment and education programs in Southern California. City of Hope, a renowned independent research and
treatment center for cancer, is a world leader in treating blood disorders that occur most often in children, adolescents and young adults, including leukemia, lymphoma, bone, joint and soft tissue tumors, and brain tumors.

For the second year in a row, Stater Bros. customers and teammates generously donated by purchasing $1 or $5 mobiles during checkout at Stater Bros. locations during a 12-day in-store Kids 4 Hope campaign. The community and teammates of the Murrieta, CA location led the chain in raising the most funds – $20,589 throughout the campaign, with all stores raising $617,877 overall. During the two-year partnership, nearly $1.1 million has been raised to support pediatric cancer patients.

“We are grateful we can count on the support of our customers and teammates. Their compassion and generosity is the driving force behind these fundraising efforts. Thanks to them, we can help City of Hope advance the fight against pediatric cancer and provide hope to these brave young fighters and their families,” stated Nancy Negrette, Chairman and President Stater Bros. Charities.

All funds raised throughout the campaign will support pediatric cancer treatment and education programs at City of Hope to address the needs of infants, children, teens, and families during hospitalization and outpatient treatment. The programs supported by the campaign include Child Life Services, Patient Navigation, Academic Advocacy, and Transportation Assistance.
