Albertsons participates in Nourishing Neighbors program

Nourishing Neighbors campaign kicks off today

Feeding America Riverside | San Bernardino (FARSB) has been selected as a charity partner for select Southern California Albertsons and Vons stores. They will receive donations from its annual Nourishing Neighbors campaign aimed at helping ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast.

All donations made at select these select stores will be used to help reduce child hunger within the Inland Empire by providing healthy food provisions to children and their families.

“Young minds and bodies need a healthy breakfast to kick off their day,” said Carolyn Solar, CEO of FARSB. “Eating breakfast improves alertness, concentration, mental performance, and mood. We’re thrilled to have been selected as the charity partner for these select Southern California Albertsons and Vons. We are grateful to Albertsons and Vons Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors initiative for their ongoing commitment to fighting hunger in our communities”.

FARSB is the leading hunger-relief and food rescue organization serving the Inland Empire region through partnership with over 250 local nonprofits. The food bank operates multiple nutrition programs and works to create a hunger-free reality for children, seniors, veterans, and neighbors in need.

Nourishing Neighbors aims to fight hunger by helping to keep food banks stocked, supporting meal distribution programs at schools, and supporting programs that provide food to seniors. As a program of the Albertsons Companies Foundation, it is working to eradicate childhood hunger in America. With as many as one in four children in America at risk of need, the funds raised in September will be dedicated to local efforts that ensure every child has access to a healthy breakfast.

“Breakfast is an essential school supply for kids to learn, grow, and thrive,” said Kevin Curry, Southern California Division President. “We’re grateful to support the important work of community partners like FARSB. Together we are making our neighborhoods better places for our children to grow up.”

Anyone wishing to support FARSB through this program can go to select Southern California Albertsons and Vons stores and make a donation to Nourishing Neighbors at checkout from September 1-30. For a list of participating stores, click HERE.
