SBPD arrest suspect for murder

The San Bernardino Police Department have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of Clarence Wimbish and the attempted shooting of Nolan Noriega as they walked down the street headed home after going to a convenience store.

The pair were shot by a self admitted gang-member, Gilbert Ruiz who according to a SBPD  statement “was positively identified as the shooter…”.

The shooting took place Wednesday evening in the 1000 block of North Wall Avenue.

After working the case for less than 24 hours the San Bernardino Police Department identified Ruiz as a suspect.  He was arrested and at his home there was further evidence discovered of his role in the murder including the vehicle described as being used in the attack a dark sedan.

The motive was apparently jealousy as the gang-member Ruiz felt the victims looked at his girlfriend wrong according to the police report.  Ruiz has been booked into the West Valley Detention Center and is being held on $1,000,000 bail.

“Keeping San Bernardino city residents and businesses safe is my number one priority,” said Mayor John Valdivia. “As Mayor of the city, I’m grateful for the efforts of our police department, for the quick apprehension of the suspect involved in this crime.”
