San Bernardino County tax payers now have another option to pay their property taxes – in smaller, more manageable amounts throughout the year.
The San Bernardino County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector recently announced the rollout of a new partial payment option that allows taxpayers to make partial payments any time, in any amount—online, by mail, or in person—allowing them to manage payments in a way that best fits their budget.
“Partial payments can reduce financial stress and give taxpayers more control over how and when they pay,” San Bernardino County ATC Ensen Mason said in a statement. “Used wisely, partial payments can help taxpayers avoid falling behind. Even small payments add up over time and can help prevent penalties and interest. This program is about empowering taxpayers and helping them stay on track.”
Mason emphasized that the new option reflects the County’s commitment to a modern, flexible tax collection process. “This is a big step forward for San Bernardino County. We’re making it easier for taxpayers to meet their obligations in a way that fits their financial reality,” he said. “Whether someone pays a little every week or once a month, those contributions make a meaningful difference.”
Full installments must still be paid by State deadlines to avoid penalties and partial payments do not stop the accrual of penalties or interest when deadlines are missed, nor do they prevent a property from becoming eligible for tax sale after an extended period of nonpayment.
