Operation Consequences continues to make a difference in the community

Between August 18 and the 24th, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, along with deputies from patrol stations, and personnel from partnering agencies contacted gang members and people prohibited from possessing firearms throughout the county. One firearm was seized and suspected narcotics recovered. Investigators also made two felony arrests and three misdemeanor arrests during the operational period.

“Operation Consequences” is an ongoing crime suppression initiative in the High Desert and the Sheriff’s jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino aimed at reducing violent crime and gang activity. It involves targeted operations, parole and probation checks, and collaboration between various law enforcement agencies.

In a post on social media San Bernardino County Sheriff Shannon Dicus said, “Operation Consequences isn’t just a name — it’s a message. In a state where it often feels like there are no consequences for criminal behavior, we’re sending a clear signal: In San Bernardino County, we hold criminals accountable.”

Operation Consequences will continue over the next several months to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing, and trafficking firearms.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorized funds for county-wide crime suppression back in 2022. The intent is to provide additional funding to the Sheriff’s Department, allowing for increased law enforcement services related to quality-of-life issues affecting the communities in our county.
