Beasts and Bones event coming to museum September 20

Beasts and Bones is coming to the San Bernardino County Museum (SBCM) Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is hosting the family-friendly affair filled with interactive, educational, and fun-filled experiences for visitors of all ages. Explore creatures of the past to the present – from tooth to tail through special activities, live demonstrations, and expert-led conversations.

This year’s event will guarantee a fascinating look into the world of reptiles, raptors, and prehistoric fossils through outdoor exploration and hands-on art activities as well as local food vendors and partners including: Big Bear Alpine Zoo, SBC Devore Animal Shelter, SBC Vector Control, Idyllwild Nature Center, Cold Blooded Science, Mojave National Preserve, SBC Regional Parks, Chino Hills State Park Discovery Center, Wildlife Adventure Time, and more to engage in interactive and immersive experiences designed to captivate, educate and provide an inside look into the enchanting world of scales, talons, fur, and fossils.

“This event is a celebration of the creatures that came before us,” said Curator of Integrated Biology Dr. Mackenzie Kirchner. “It’s a chance to explore the science behind the bones, the stories they tell, and the environments they once lived in—all in a way that’s engaging, educational, and fun for the whole family.”

SBCM is located at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (children ages 6 to 12). Children five and under and Museum Foundation members are admitted free. Parking is free. The museums are accessible to people with disabilities. For more information, visit museum.sbcounty.gov.
