SB Express Lanes open on Interstate 10

SB Express Lanes open on Interstate 10

Just in time for Labor Day weekend, the new SB Express Lanes on Interstate 10 between the Los Angeles-San Bernardino County line and Etiwanda Avenue, just east of Interstate 15, are officially open.

The 10-mile project was completed by the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) and have plans for two more phases of construction that will add another 26 miles of express lanes.

The second phase that includes 11 miles of express lanes construction between Etiwanda Avenue and Pepper Street in Colton is expected to begin in 2025. Construction of 12 miles in the third phase between Pepper Avenue and Ford Street in Redlands will start at a later date.

While the lanes are open to all eligible vehicles, drivers with FasTrak® accounts will pay the lowest tolls and benefit from available offers and discounts. High occupancy vehicles (HOV) with three or more people can use the lanes for free with a FasTrak account and FasTrak Flex switchable transponder.

For anyone using the lanes without a FasTrak account, they can pay for their toll online within five days of the trip to avoid a notice of toll evasion. Motorcyclists can use the lanes for free at all times and do not need a FasTrak account.

Drivers heading eastbound on Interstate 10 can enter the SB Express Lanes at the Los Angeles-San Bernardino County line, Mountain Avenue and Fourth Street. They can exit the eastbound lanes at Mountain Avenue, Fourth Street, Haven Avenue and Etiwanda Avenue.

Drivers heading westbound in the SB Express Lanes can enter the lanes at Etiwanda Avenue, Haven Avenue, Fourth Street and Mountain Avenue. They can exit the westbound lanes at Haven Avenue, Fourth Street, Mountain Avenue and the Los Angeles-San Bernardino County line.

Toll pricing is dynamic and changes based on current traffic levels and demand for the lanes. Minimum tolls are set at $0.70 and will reasonably increase based on demand at the time. Exact pricing will be displayed above the lanes and drivers will only pay the price they see at the point of entry.
