Work begins on Dodgers “Dreamfields” at Blair Park

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and the San Manuel Mission Band of Indians were on hand for a groundbreaking ceremony yesterday where three Dodgers Dreamfields will be built at Blair Park in the City of San Bernardino.

The project is estimated to cost $1.7 million and will support youth ages 5-18 with three refurbished fields at Blair Park. Refurbishments will include new playing surfaces and grass, enclosed fields, upgraded dugouts, upgraded irrigation systems, new pitching mounds, bullpens and LED scoreboards resembling Dodger Stadium.

The project was made possible by a nearly $1.3 million grant from lead partner, the San Manuel Mission Band of Indians. This is the largest gift for a Dodgers Dreamfield project to date. Additional project sponsors include Security Benefit, LA84 Foundation and the Helen and Will Webster Foundation.

The LADF started building “Dreamfields” two decades ago in and around Los Angeles to provide safe havens and points of pride for underserved neighborhoods. The group vowed to build 75 of the fields by 2033 – the 75th anniversary of the Dodgers’ move to the City of Angels.

This is LADF’s 61st, 62nd, and 63rd Dreamfields project.

Blair Park is at 1466 W. Marshall Blvd.
