The San Bernardino Police Department has received $1,031,000 in federal funding to support the City of San Bernardino’s Mobile Crime Prevention Program, strengthening ongoing efforts to reduce crime and enhance public safety throughout the community.
The funding, secured by Congressman Pete Aguilar (CA-33) and announced during a press conference held at the San Bernardino Police Department, will be used to expand and support the Department’s surveillance and crime-prevention technology. These investments will enhance law enforcement’s ability to monitor and respond to incidents more effectively, deter criminal activity, and assist in solving crimes.
This funding was made possible through the Commerce, Justice, Science, Energy & Water Development, and Interior & Environment Appropriations Act of 2026, which included $7.4 million in federal community project funding grants for seven projects across California’s 33rd Congressional District.
San Bernardino Police Chief Darren Goodman emphasized the importance of the funding and its role in continuing the department’s momentum. “Last year, our department experienced a remarkable reduction in crime, thanks to the hard work of our officers, professional staff, and strong partnerships with our community,” said Chief Goodman. “This funding allows us to build on that success by investing in technology that will further enhance public safety, improve our response capabilities, and help us continue driving crime down across San Bernardino.”
The San Bernardino Police Department remains committed to using evidence-based strategies and modern technology to increase efficiency and improve outcomes for residents and visitors alike.
