Earlier this month, San Bernardino City Councilmember Mario Flores, members of the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce and community joined WelbeHealth to celebrate the opening of their new senior health care facility at 1819 Western Avenue, across the street from Community Hospital.
The 3-hour event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, free blood pressure checks & chair Zumba, comments physician leaders & participants and raffles & educational stations.
WelbeHealth is a physician-led public benefit company founded in 2015 that provides comprehensive health care services for seniors through a fully integrated program that includes medical and dental care, physical and occupational therapy, behavioral health services, transportation to medical appointments, meals, and personal care services.
Their Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which is funded by Medi-Cal and Medicare provides primary care, preventative care, nursing services, occupational therapy, physical therapy, meals, and transportation to appointments.
According to WelbeHealth, PACE achieves higher median survival rates compared to nursing homes and waiver programs, even while serving a frailer population. PACE also saves taxpayers $10,000 per participant each year, in addition to providing better health outcomes.
