The baseball fields at Blair Park will have new batting cage netting by the end of the year thanks to a partnership between the City of San Bernardino Parks and Recreation Department and San Bernardino County Supervisor Joe Baca Jr.
The announcement was made at Blair Park in an event attended by Ridgeline Little League players, League President Preston White, Supervisor Baca, along with Mayor Helen Tran, Councilmembers Kim Knaus, Mario Flores, and Treasure Ortiz,
Planning for the netting had been kept quiet, making the October 21 announcement a surprise to the kids and League officials.
“This was a huge surprise for us, and we’re incredibly grateful to Supervisor Baca for making it happen,” said Ridgeline Little League President Preston White. “More than anything, we’re thankful our players have a place they can take pride in and call their own.”
“These investments are not just about today—they are about building a legacy. A legacy of safe spaces, of dreams realized, and of futures shaped right here in San Bernardino,” said Mayor Tran.
The project will be managed by the City of San Bernardino, with the $12,000 cost being covered by the County. The project is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
While the fields and other amenities were upgraded as a part of the Dodger Dreamfields improvements in 2024, the batting cages were not a part of that project.
“Every dollar we invest in our youth is an investment in the future of our community,” Supervisor Baca added. “I’m proud to support organizations like Ridgeline Little League that bring families together and inspire our next generation of leaders.”
