Plans for new supermarket on Greenspot Road underway

Plans are underway to replace an aging Stater Bros. location with a the new, modern supermarket at the northeast corner of the 210 freeway and Greenspot Rd. in Highland.

Stater Bros. Markets recently announced they will be replacing the store located at 3633 Highland Ave. that originally opened more than forty years ago.

At just over 46,000 sq. ft., the new supermarket will be nearly double the size of the store it is replacing and will feature full-service meat, seafood, service deli and bakery departments, and a selection of fresh and healthy offerings, including the ever-popular fresh sushi and fresh cut fruit stations. In addition, the store will implement eco-friendly practices such as the use of energy-efficient equipment and energy-saving LED lighting.

Stater Bros. anticipates construction on the new store in the Greenspot Crossings shopping center to begin this fall, with the store opening in the summer of 2025. All teammates at the closing store will be offered an opportunity to transfer to other Stater Bros. locations. An official closing date for the existing store will be determined closer to the grand opening of the new store.

“Stater Bros. is excited to be a part of the rapid growth and continued development of the city of Highland,” said Stater Bros. CEO Pete Van Helden. “We are happy that we’ll be able to offer a world-class grocery shopping experience in an area yearning for expanded food solutions,” Van Helden concluded.
