Morales to retire as CSUSB president

Tomas Morales will step down as president of Cal State San Bernardino at the end of the 2025-’26 academic year.

Morales announced is resignation Aug. 21 during the university’s annual convocation of faculty, staff and administrators, according to a statement on the university’s website.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as your president,” Morales said in the statement. “I look forward to moving into this next year with you. These are not just words, they are what I truly feel and believe. I have a great deal of confidence in you and the future of our campus.”

Morales took over as Cal State San Bernardino’s fourth president in August 2012. He held developed summer bridge and other student and academic support services, including strengthening relationships with public K-12 school districts and community colleges in the Inland Empire.

Morales also completed the university’s first fundraising effort, which raised $54 million and doubled the school’s endowment, and he oversaw the addition 552,600 square feet to the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.

The search for Morales’ successor will be handled by Cal State San Bernardino’s board of trustees, according to the statement.
