Members of the community and local elected officials joined the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District last week to celebrate the opening of a brand new fire station.
Station 226, located at 1920 Del Rosa Avenue replaces an undersized, outdated station on the same site that was built in 1976.
The new 9,867 square foot fire station sits on 2.5-acres and features three-bays and provides room for additional staff and equipment to handle a higher volume of calls. In 2024, Station 226 received 7,655 calls for service, the second highest number in the County.
Construction took about 20 months to complete following a ground breaking ceremony held in September 2023.
The total project budget was nearly $10.2 million, with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians contributing $3.5 million and San Bernardino County Fire contributing $6.7 million.
“This project reflects our shared commitment to investing in public safety and ensuring our firefighters have the modern tools they need to serve our residents,” said San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. “
As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, firefighters served a pancake breakfast to the community.
