Last week Dutch Bros opened its first location in San Bernardino. Part of the University Crossings Shopping Center, the new location at 4236 N. Varsity Ave near the 215 Freeway, is about a mile from Cal State San Bernardino.
City staff from San Bernardino’s Economic Development Department, Planning Department, and City Manager’s Office, along with staff from Assembly Member James Ramos’ Office were on hand for the grand opening celebration.
The Dutch Bros is one of four new stores at University Crossings. Chick-fil-A is slated to open on later this month and Panera Bread anticipates opening in late November.
Dutch Bros was founded in Grants Pass, Oregon, in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma. The chain went public in 2021. According to Forbes, it is the fourth largest branded coffee chain in the nation.
A second Dutch Bros is scheduled to open on Hospitality Lane in the coming weeks.
