San Bernardino Police Officers Association to host council candidate forums

San Bernardino council candidate forum for Ward 5 this Thursday

The San Bernardino Police Officers Association (SBPOA) is hosting a forum for the two candidates for San Bernardino City Council Ward 5 on Thursday, August 22, at 5:30 at the First Baptist Church, located at 4747 N State Street in San Bernardino.

The forum is an opportunity for the people of San Bernardino to hear directly from both candidates about their views on the city’s issues and their proposed solutions.

Residents of San Bernardino consistently say that crime, homelessness, and the crumbling infrastructure of the city are among their chief concerns, and recent opinion polls have confirmed these reviews.

The incumbent in the fifth ward was defeated in the primary, leaving Henry Nickel and Kim Knauss to face each other. Nickel has previously been on the City Council representing Ward 5 but was defeated by current councilmember Ben Reynoso last election cycle. Knuass, who has been actively engaged with the city for years, is running for council for the first time.
