Subaru of San Bernardino donates $50,000 to Boys and Girls Club

Subaru of San Bernardino, one of several dealerships in the Cummings Auto Group at the San Bernardino Auto Mall and beyond, donated more than $50,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mountains as part of their commitment to supporting the youth of the region. The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mountains provides programs for young people in the Big Bear, Lake Arrowhead, and Crestline Communities.

“Cliff and his wife Bobbi and their employees have been awesome for years in their support for us at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Mountain Communities,” said BGCMC President Dennis Parker. “They have helped us reach and serve hundreds of families and youth that otherwise would have gone without our services.”

Before the COVID-crisis, BGCMC had four sites serving the mountain areas, but two have closed.  They currently have two locations open and will be reopening a third, running springs, in the fall of 2022.

“That donation from Subaru will help us reopen that site to take care of more kids and families and pay for our summer program in Crestline,” Parker said.

The Cummings’ involvement goes back to a neighbor moving in next to them who owned a bowling alley and other properties in the Mountain region but had to move out of the high-elevation for health reasons. He had been very involved with BGCMC, and Cliff and Bobbi, through meeting him, began supporting the organization.

“There is always a need in all communities for assistance for children,” said Cliff Cummings, CEO of the Cummings Auto Group and Owner of the Subaru Dealership.   Bobbi and I believe in investing in these kids because they are the future of our community.”
