San Bernardino will hold online meeting in search for Police Chief

San Bernardino seeks public participation in search for new Police Chief

The City of San Bernardino is seeking citizen input during the process of hiring a new Chief of Police.  The firm hired by the City Manager Rob Field to conduct the search, Koff & Associates has scheduled an online event from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday September 21 via Zoom.  Those unable to attend on line directed to call 720-707-2699 and then enter the passcode 751450.  A source from the city manager’s office said that a number of inquiries about the search have already come in to the City.  Those comments should be sent to Frank Rojas at [email protected]

The Acting Chief of Police with the City of San Bernardino Police Department retired last week.  He had served the City for three decades.  It is unknown whether the City was aware of the impending retirement.

Koff & Associates, according to their website, “is a full-service, human resources and recruiting firm specializing in customized services for public sector agencies. We assist our clients in managing the people side of their business to strengthen productivity and optimize organizational performance.”  The contract with Berkeley-based Koff & Associates was awarded through a city RFP process and is not to exceed $22,000 according to Neighborhood and Customer Service Operations Manager, Tanya Romo.

It is unknown whether the city has contracted with Koff & Associates previously and city manager Rob Field could not be reached for comment as to whether he had engaged the company previously at any other time.  A source close to the city manager’s office said they believed that it was unlikely.
