The City of San Bernardino continues its campaign to clean up and remove homeless encampments at city parks.
Last week public works crews, accompanied by the San Bernardino Housing and Homeless Division, Police Officers, and staff from the Salvation Army, helped to clear the 25 homeless encampments at Wildwood Park.
After nearly two weeks of outreach and engagement, quite a few of the individual residents were willing to accept services offered by the City, County, and non-profit partners.
The cleanup at Wildwood Park follows on the successful cleanup efforts at Perris Hill Park, where more than 30 people had been placed in temporary housing or received other services. “These past two days have been a big success, and I want to thank everyone involved,” said San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran after the cleanup efforts at Perris Hill Park. “We have compassionately cleared the Park and will be restoring it for use by our residents and families.”
Future cleanups will be announced by notices posted at all encampments within 72 hours of the scheduled cleanup date and time, per the city’s new policy. If the cleanup does not occur within three hours of the scheduled time, it must be rescheduled and a new notice posted.
I have friends at Meadow Brook Park and I’m wanting to know when the City will be cleaning up that park?So I can give my friend’s a heads up.
Thank you
