Museum selects Lee as curator of art and exhibits

Casey Lee, Ph.D. has been selected as the new curator of art and exhibits for the San Bernardino County Museum.

“With her impressive scholarly background and extensive museum experience, Casey is a perfect addition to our talented curatorial team,” said Museum Director David Myers. “Her leadership will be invaluable as we explore opportunities to showcase artwork from our own remarkable collection. The creation of this new role underscores the museum’s commitment to expanding our art collection, enhancing programming, and deepening educational offerings for the benefit of our entire county.”

Lee’s prior experience includes positions at the California Museum of Photography, the Norton Simon Museum and the J. Paul Getty Museum.

Lee has a bachelor’s degree in art history and administrative studies from UC Riverside and a doctorate in art history from Queen’s University, Kingston, with a dissertation on the collecting practices of seventeenth-century Dutch artists.

“I am excited to be joining the San Bernardino County Museum team in the inaugural role of curator of art and exhibits,” Lee said. “In this role, I hope to elevate the institution’s profile within the Inland Empire’s arts community and showcase the full range of human creativity through thoughtful collaboration in exhibitions and programming. The museum is unique because it is often the first museum experience for so many, as it was for me. This is a great responsibility, and I plan on engaging new and returning audiences with an exciting exhibitions program that reveals interesting stories and inspires visitors to reflect on our common history and the world around us.”
