Last week San Bernardino Valley College marked the completion of its state-of-the-art Applied Technology Building with a Grand Opening ceremony.
The event, attended by local dignitaries, college staff and the community, kicked off with remarks from Stewart Knox, Secretary of the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency and a ribbon-cutting. The public was treated to an open house, food trucks and music.
The new facility has 50 classrooms, labs and hands-on training space that will allow the college to expand its Career Technical Education (CTE) programs, including: Automotive Technology (Traditional, Hybrid, & EV), Solar Technology, Heavy Duty/Medium Trucks, HVAC & Refrigeration, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining, Water Technology, Electricity & Electronics, and Industrial Automation.
SBVC’s Applied Technology Building is 114,897 square feet and cost $101.1 million to build. Designed by HMC Architects and built by Icon West, Inc., the project is on track for LEED Platinum Certification, making it a model for sustainability in higher education.
