Whoppers caught at Seccombe Lake

The City of San Bernardino recently shared that some rather large fish were caught at Seccombe Lake. Brothers Felipe and Miguel Valenzuela caught carp, catfish and trout in recent weeks from the lake.

Seccombe Lake Urban State Recreation Area – generally called Seccombe Lake – first opened in the mid-1980s. Fishermen will find a variety of fish including crappie, rainbow trout, bullhead, bream/bluegill and largemouth bass.

According to the city’s Parks, Recreation, and Community Services department, it’s been several years since they stocked the lake, so it is estimated that the fish are five years old.

All fish caught must be released back in to the lake. No fishing license is needed. Seccombe Lake will be stocked with additional fish before summer.
