With San Bernardino County facing a dangerous fire season, the San Bernardino County Fire Department (SBCoFD) has increased its vigilance in enforcing state and county firework laws to protect public health and safety.
The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District will be holding a Voluntary Fireworks Surrender Day in San Bernardino on April 10. This event provides San Bernardino County residents a safe and convenient way to dispose of illegal fireworks while also avoiding the risk of fines or enforcement action.
Items that will be accepted during the event are:
- Commercial Fireworks
- Safe and Sane Fireworks
The following items will not be accepted:
- Explosive devices or ammunition (Call your local bomb squad immediately)
- Any fireworks and/or aerial shells classified as DOT 1.3 or greater
- Homemade fireworks, chemicals, loose pyrotechnic powders, black powder, and smokeless powder.
- Fuzees, flares, electric matches, and blasting caps.
- Non-fireworks related evidence or contraband (weapons, drugs, paraphernalia, etc.)
- Damaged or wet fireworks.
- Lighters, matches, trash including expended fireworks.
The event is open to all residents. Firefighter personnel will help remove fireworks while residents remain in their vehicles. The event will take place from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at Fire Station 221, 200 E. 3rd Street.
