The Scary Time of Year is Here – looking for a Haunt or a Hoot – Here are some things to do nearby

Redlands

A costume party fundraiser for the Looking Glass Studio of Performing Arts will begin at 3:00 P.M. and Conclude at 5:00 P.M on . Saturday, Oct. 23.  The  event will take place at 1150 Brookside Ave., Suite L. The event is set to include games, a costume contest, face painting and of course, candy. An entry fee of $5 is required and proceeds will go to the Studio which is seeking to expand.

The Howl-ween Pet Fair and Pet Food Drive from which is put together by the City of Redlands Recreation Department, will take place from  10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Redlands Dog Park at Ford Park, 955 Parkford Drive. The free event will include an owner/pet costume contest, a photo booth and other assorted vendors. A raffle will be held with proceeds going to Paws to Feed, which provides pet food to pet lovers who can’t afford to feed their animals.

Ontario

If you are in the mood to be judges a Halloween Costume Parade and Contest will take place Friday, Oct. 29, at precisely 3:45 P.M. at the Ontario Senior Center, 225 E. B St.  All participants will receive a a trick-or-treat bag and refreshments. The contest is for the wee amongst us and kids un der the age off 8  are encouraged to participate.   The judging will be based on numerous categories including the  creepiest; most unique; cute and colorful; best look-alike; and family.   You are asked to arrive for check in at 2:30 p.m.

The City of Ontario Recreation and Community Services will host a Trunk or Treat event 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Westwind Park, 2455 E. Riverside Drive. People who have vehicles aT and are willing to participate are encouraged to call the City Recreation and Services Department as they still need entries. The city is looking for trunk or treat vehicle entries. All registered vehicles will be provided candy and toy bags to distribute.

Riverside

In Riverside the scare-fest, Castle Dark is back after a year off because of the covid-scare, at Castle Park weekend nights in October.

Among the usual scary things the vent features three new haunted mazes, four scare zones, rides and Halloween themed food items.

The event runs through Sunday, Oct. 31. The hours on Fridays and Saturdays are 7 p.m. until midnight. On Sundays, it runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
