San Bernardino has a long history of Chinese immigration going back to 1867 according to our history books. While there isn’t much culinary history going back that far, we have always enjoyed great Chinese Restaurants, especially when Bing’s Famous Cathay Inn opened in 1963 on Highland Avenue by Bing and Ting Wong.
While the Wong’s closed their restaurant in the late 90’s, smaller independent Chinese restaurants stepped into the void to meet the demands of San Bernardino residents.
Among those is The Little Dragon, which provides a nice selection of traditional Chinese dishes at a very reasonable price. They offer full dinners and a la carte selection at a reasonable price with a family style menu that makes ordering for more than one very easy.
We had the Family Style 2 menu that included egg flower soup, fried shrimp and egg rolls for appetizers, and a main course including chicken chow mein, sweet and sour pork, shrimp fried rice and orange chicken (that we substituted for egg foo young.)
We had quick service and the food was delicious, with very large portions. Fortunately, we brought our appetites, and still needed a box for leftovers.
Overall, the food was very good and fairly priced, especially for the portions provided. Service was friendly and professional. The Little Dragon is well worth a visit, especially for family dining.
