The San Bernardino Police Department celebrated their newly opened substation at the Inland Center Mall with a ribbon cutting this week.
The new substation is complete with reception area, open work space, six offices and a conference room.
The 2,000-square-foot space received $300,000 in tenant improvements by the property owner and is leasing the location to the city for $1 a year.
“Our new sub-station is a space for our community to file police reports, directly speak to officers, and increase our presence in the area. This new space provided by the Inland Center Mall places us in much closer contact on-site should any crimes occur in the lot. It’s a great partnership for our agency and their businesses,” said Equino Thomas, SBPD Sergeant & Public Information Officer.
Mayor John Valdivia, Councilmembers Fred Shorett and Damon Alexander, City Manager Rob Fields, a representative from Congressman Pete Aguilar, and 5th District County Supervisor Joe Baca Jr.’s office attended to commemorate the occasion.
The substation’s hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located at 458 S. Inland Center Drive.
