San Bernardino County gives community update on Line Fire

INFORMATION CURRENT AS OF 7:43 A.M. ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2024

On Saturday, San Bernardino County proclaimed the existence of a local emergency in response to the Line Fire. Later in the day, California Gov. Gavin Newsom proclaimed a State of Emergency in San Bernardino County. Both actions make San Bernardino County eligible for state and federal assistance in responding to and recovering from the fire.

The Line Fire has scorched 20,552 acres between Highland and Running Springs since it began on Thursday, September 5. Three percent containment has been achieved. No structures have been damaged or destroyed. Three firefighters have been injured.

Evacuation Orders have been issued by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for the following areas:

  • The area from Calle Del Rio to Highway 38, including Greenspot Road North
  • All underdeveloped land east of Highway 330 to Summertrail Place and north of Highland Avenue
  • The areas of Running Spring east of Highway 330 and south of Highway 18
  • The communities of Running Springs and Arrowbear Lake
  • The area east of Orchard Road to Cloverhill from Highland Avenue north to the foothills
  • North of Highland Avenue and East of Palm Avenue to Highway 330
  • Garnett Street east to 38 and Mill Creek north to the foothills
  • Forest Falls
  • Mountain Home Village

Evacuation WARNINGS are in effect for:

  • From Boulder Avenue east to Church Street and Greenspot Road north to the foothills
  • Church Street east to the city limit and from the foothills south to Greenspot Road
  • Green Valley Lake north of Highway 18
  • The communities of Cedar Glen, Lake Arrowhead, Crestline, and Valley of Enchantment
  • Angelus Oaks, Seven Oaks
  • Garnet Street to Bryant Street and Carter Street North the Mill Creek

Residents under an evacuation order are in immediate danger and are urged to leave their homes and get themselves and their families to safety. Residents under an evacuation warning and anyone close to the fire are urged to make a plan to evacuate by gathering valuables, packing necessities such as medications, and preparing to transport pets.

  • San Bernardino County Fairgrounds, Building 6, 14800 7th Street, Victorville
  • Jesse Turner Community Center, 15556 Summit Ave., Fontana

School Closures

All schools in the Redlands Unified School District, the Yucaipa-Calimesa Unified School District, and the Rim of the World School District and one school in the San Bernardino City Unified School District (Bonnie Oehl Elementary) are closed today, Monday, September 9.

The incident is under the Unified Command of CAL FIRE San Bernardino-Inyo-Mono Unit, City of Highland; the San Bernardino National Forest; the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District; and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
