Early Sunday morning, San Bernardino County Fire crews were dispatched to a reported commercial structure fire in the 700 block of North H Street, San Bernardino. 911 callers reported an apartment was on fire.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from a two story multi-unit apartment complex. Crews aggressively attacked the fire, working on an interior fire attack, while searching for victims and performing vertical ventilation on the roof.
The call was upgraded to a second alarm which brought out additional personnel and trucks. The fire was knocked down approximately 30 minutes after arrival on scene.
No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported. Three apartment units received fire/smoke damage, three additional with smoke and water damage. More than 25 units were saved by firefighters. Red Cross was requested to assist with those displaced.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with 9 Engines, three Truck Companies, two Battalion Chiefs and a Fire Investigator. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
