San Bernardino City Parks & Recreation is now accepting registrations for the upcoming Inland Empire Senior Games. The annual event will run from September 23rd to October 7th.
Formerly known as the San Bernardino Senior Games, this competition began in 1987 with a partnership between San Bernardino Community Hospital, San Bernardino Valley College, and the City of San Bernardino.
Seniors, age 50 years or better participate in various sports such as tennis, swimming, a 5k/10k walk or run, horseshoes, billiards, bowling, basketball, pickleball, and golf. Competition in most events ranges from novice to experienced.
Age divisions are in 5 year increments and medals are awarded to 1st-3rd places in each division.
The Games provide an opportunity for active senior-age community members to meet, as well as connect face-to-face with nonprofit organizations, agencies, institutions, and businesses offering information on health services and products.
Additional information and registration can be found by downloading the Senior Games application here.
The Inland Empire Senior Games is sponsored by the City of San Bernardino Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and the Fontana Community Senior Center.
