Subaru is a car brand that loves pets, especially dogs. The furry wonders often appear in Subaru commercials happily peering out of the windows as the wind blasts their ears back of springing out of the car at a beach, lake or other outdoor setting to happily chase a ball or a Frisbee.
In fact the car maker even has a tag-line devoted to pets, “Dog Tested. Dog Approved.” This love for pets will be playing out this month across the country and right here in San Bernardino County.
Dog and cats in San Bernardino County animal shelters in Devore and Big Bear will have the chance to find forever homes during Subaru Loves Pets Month. Subaru of San Bernardino and Subaru of America will donate $100 a day to cover the cost of pet adoptions for dogs and cats from the San Bernardino County animal shelters.
A San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors proclamation recognized this month-long adoption event and declared the month of October 2021 as “Subaru Loves Pets Month.”
“We believe all of our residents, including pets deserve safe loving homes and we are proud to partner with Subaru and support their efforts to help our furry friends find homes here in the County and beyond,” said Curt Hagman, chairman of the Board of Supervisors.
The Animals aRe First Fund (ARFF) will be the recipient of funds from Subaru and provide additional funding to the County to offer subsidized adoption fees during the campaign which will allow residents to adopt a dog for $25 and to adopt a cat for $17 from County animal shelter facilities located in Devore and Big Bear Lake.
