Norco man arrested for arson, suspected of starting Line Fire

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s office issued a statement that Justin Wayne Halstenberg has been arrested for arson in connection with the Line Fire.

“Highland Station detectives, in collaboration with Cal Fire investigators, identified Halstenberg as the suspect who started a fire in the area of Baseline Road and Alpin Street in the city of Highland, also known as the Line Fire, on September 5, 2024,” according to a statement.

Halstenberg was located and arrested on September 10. Halstenberg was booked at the Central Detention Center for P.C. 451 – Arson and is being held in lieu of $80,000 bail.

The Line Fire has grown to 34,659 acres as of Wednesday morning and is now 14% contained. No structures have been lost, but thousands of residents remain evacuated.
