Metrolink extends Student Adventure Pass through June 2025

Metrolink has extended its Student Adventure Pass program through June 30, 2025. The Student Adventure Pass allows anyone with a valid student ID – including K-12, trade school and college students – to travel anywhere on the Metrolink system free of charge.

“We are excited by the success of the Student Adventure Pass, which has nearly doubled Metrolink’s student ridership since its inception,” Metrolink Board Chair and City of Highland Mayor Pro Tem Larry McCallon said. “The program has delivered much-needed financial relief for tens of thousands of Southern California students who can apply those cost savings to food, rent and other educational expenses such as books and school supplies. By introducing a new generation to our region’s public transportation network, the Student Adventure Pass is also laying the groundwork for a more sustainable, less car-dependent future.”

The Student Adventure Pass has been used more than half a million times since the program launched in 2023. As of May 2024, students accounted for 25% of Metrolink’s total ridership compared to 16% during the same window in 2023, demonstrating significant year-over-year growth.

Student Adventure Pass users must be able to present both an active ticket and valid student identification upon fare inspection. Riders can obtain a Student Adventure Pass ticket through Metrolink’s Mobile App or at any Metrolink ticket machine. Metrolink tickets allow for free transfers to many local transportation agencies, including LA Metro, for first- and last-mile connections.
