First 5 San Bernardino turns 25

First 5 San Bernardino is celebrating 25 years of serving young children and families in San Bernardino County. The organization’s rich history dates to 1999 as a response to Proposition 10 – the California Children and Families Act – which launched a program to promote, support and improve the early development of children prenatal through 5 years old.

Now in its 25^th year, the First 5 San Bernardino Commission and team members are planning to celebrate the accomplishments the organization has made in its partnerships, collaboration and in its three focus areas – child health, early literacy and family supports.

Three annual campaigns highlight the organization’s focus areas and aim to increase awareness of the resources available to families in need. Summer recognizes family support and child safety through the Kid Safe Summer campaign. Fall and winter recognize early literacy through the Gift a Kid a Book campaign. And winter has focused on healthy pediatric oral care with the Little Teeth, Big Responsibility campaign.
