Detectives ask public for help in homicide investigation

San Bernardino Police Detectives are conducting a homicide investigation following a shooting that occurred on last Friday.

After receiving reports of a shooting, officers were dispatched to the 700 block of N. Terrace Road where they found a teenage boy, Diego Duran, 18 years old in a vehicle.  Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.

According to Police sources, the location where he was shot ”is an area where people go out and park for the view…at night you can see the lights from the city.”

The Public Information Officer for the San Bernardino Police Department, Sgt. J. Echevarria said, “The victim is known to law enforcement and that’s as much as I can say because it’s a juvenile records issue.”

The number of wounds, where he was shot and other details such as the type or caliber of the weapon used were not released at this time.   The police have no other information such as possible motive or who the shooter or shooters were.

But according to a longtime police source in the region in cases like this usually “the police usually have more information but won’t release it at this time to keep the investigation secure, this is likely a gang related shooting.”

Anyone with information is urged to call Detective M. Siems at (909) 384-5650 / [email protected] or Sergeant J. King at (909) 384-5613 / [email protected].
