Kohl’s announced last week that it would be closing its San Bernardino E-commerce Fulfillment Center (EFC) in May when the lease on that facility expires, and the closure of 27 underperforming stores.
The San Bernardino facility has been in operation for Kohl’s since 2010. It is one of 15 EFCs and Distribution Centers in Kohl’s supply chain network across the country. The closure follows recent efforts to incorporate new technology at newer EFC facilities and expand the company’s ability to fulfill customer orders from store locations, thereby eliminating the need for the San Bernardino facility.
Kohl’s also plans to close 27 stores, 10 of them in California, by April 2025:

“We always take these decisions very seriously,” said Tom Kingsbury, Kohl’s chief executive officer in a statement. “As we continue to build on our long-term growth strategy, it is important that we also take difficult but necessary actions to support the health and future of our business for our customers and our teams.”
