Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, recently announced that Senate Bill 657 was signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. The new law will help businesses to better communicate with any employee that is working from home. The SB 657 is made to help with telecommuting employment-related documents online to be sent electronically, and secure.
“The pandemic has shifted the workplace for many, and in this new business climate, many businesses are trying to find new and innovative ways to provide the same services and share the same information with their employees as they did before the pandemic,” said Senator Ochoa Bogh. “I thank the Governor for signing my bill into law, which will modernize communication methods between employers and employees. SB 657 allows information to be sent electronically, ensuring employees who are working from home or teleworking continue to receive the same information that they would have in the workplace, in addition to the current postings.”
Because of COVID-19, many industries were disrupted and forced to rethink the way they operate to accommodate state orders. One problem that still would need to be fixed however, is notifications to employees that have no proper system in place to conduct this type of business. In the end, SB 657 will help to fill any gap of sending or receiving employees information that is needed.
